I live in the same world you do. If you read my brand values, you know who I am. I am living in the same world you are, and it has been pretty heavy. I hear all the time that I should just turn off the news, but it feels like people are telling me to just put my head in the sand. I don’t feel right about that either, but something's got to give.
So what do we do to get through this? Here are my thoughts.
Thrive Together. Take care of each other: If we can thrive together in this environment, we will sky rocket once we are out of it, and I do believe that this is going to change.
Manage your intake of information: If we take breaks from watching the news, we can stay informed while taking care of our mental health.
Choose where you get your information from wisely: Follow trusted sources who bring you the information without making you feel more anxious about it than necessary.
Hang out with like minded people: Find ways to support each other. For example, buy from each other’s businesses, and share about each other's businesses, share sales that are happening at local grocery stores, help each other start your gardens, do fun things together. We can take care of ourselves and each other.
We have to take care of ourselves: Small is better than nothing, and it doesn’t need to cost anything. Find something you can do together with a friend.
Embrace joy! Intentionally experience every joyful moment possible. Take an extra deep breath when you’re out on a nice day, express your gratitude for good friends, and share a funny story with anyone who will listen. Celebrate achievements for you and for others. Embrace every joyful moment that you can.
Cultivate hope: As you’re embracing joy, cultivate hope for yourself and for others. In every act of independence, find hope. Encourage others to take part. Build community. When you take care of each other, you thrive together.
There are days that you will feel ready to face anything, and days that you will feel less so. If we stay focused, and stay close to the people that we know will help us stay focused, we will thrive.
Bonus Bit: I challenge you to incorporate one thing from this article within the next seven days. Whether you are going to make a lunch date with a trusted friend, or practice deep breathing every day. Anything. Then use that momentum to propel you forward. Thrive! If you’d like to share that with me, email me at Maria@MDKHealing.com.
I sincerely hope that I have provided you with some love and light today.
Maria
